Jeanne Hoffman Legrand is a Cape Town based artist who works mostly in the media of drawing, lithography and installation. Her work fuses the conceptual and formal concerns of drawing with found materials in three-dimensional constructions. She has participated in a number of two-person and group exhibitions in South Africa and internationally as well as two solo exhibitions in Cape Town. To date, she has attended artists' residencies in Belgium and in Finland.
Hoffman Legrand has worked in the field of arts education, in various capacities, for the past seven years. These include teaching at secondary and tertiary level, as well as co-ordinating and facilitating various environmental education community projects. Hoffman has recently completed a Masters degree in Visual Arts at the University of Stellenbosch, near Cape Town, where she is employed as part-time lecturer in drawing."Travelling, teaching and research is an integral part of how I function as an artist. It provides focus for my visual and academic reseach, which explores the interconnections between drawing and our everyday 'journeys' in and through urban spaces."
